Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineers design, install and maintain the electrical systems that power Australia's water and wastewater infrastructure.
 
You'll work on everything from treatment plants and pumping stations to desalination facilities and renewable energy systems.
 
Your role may involve designing new electrical systems, upgrading ageing infrastructure, improving energy efficiency and troubleshooting faults to keep essential services operating safely.
 
As the water industry becomes more automated and digitally connected, Electrical Engineers also work closely with automation, operational technology (OT) and SCADA specialists to develop smarter, more resilient networks.
 
You'll collaborate with mechanical, civil and process engineers, operators and contractors to deliver projects that protect public health, support growing communities and improve environmental outcomes.
 

DAY TO DAY WORK

  • Designing electrical systems for treatment plants, pump stations and water networks.
  • Specifying motors, switchboards, generators and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting electrical faults and improving system reliability.
  • Planning electrical upgrades and replacement projects.
  • Supporting the installation and commissioning of new infrastructure.
  • Working with automation, instrumentation and SCADA systems.
  • Ensuring electrical installations comply with Australian Standards and safety regulations.
  • Monitoring energy consumption and identifying efficiency improvements.
  • Preparing technical drawings, specifications and engineering reports.
  • Visiting operational sites to inspect equipment and support maintenance teams.

Qualifications for this role

  •  Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) qualifications are required for this role.
