Environmental Advisors help water utilities and project teams understand and manage the environmental impacts of their work.
You could support the construction of a new pipeline, treatment plant or reservoir, or help manage the environmental performance of existing water infrastructure.
Your work may involve assessing potential impacts on waterways, wildlife, vegetation, soil and cultural heritage, then recommending ways to avoid or minimise harm.
You'll work with engineers, planners, construction teams, scientists, Traditional Owners, regulators and local communities to ensure projects meet environmental requirements.
The role combines science, environmental protection, legislation and practical problem-solving, helping the water industry deliver essential services while caring for Australia's unique natural environment.
DAY TO DAY WORK
- Assessing potential environmental impacts of water infrastructure projects and operations.
- Providing environmental advice to engineers, planners, project managers and construction teams.
- Supporting environmental approvals and ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring construction sites for environmental risks and compliance.
- Developing environmental management plans and procedures.
- Conducting environmental inspections and site assessments.
- Monitoring impacts on waterways, vegetation, wildlife and surrounding environments.
- Investigating environmental incidents and recommending corrective actions.
- Working with contractors to implement environmental controls and good practices.
- Preparing environmental reports and communicating findings to project teams, regulators and stakeholders.
