You could help manage the systems that monitor a water treatment plant, track water levels in reservoirs or control pumps across a large network.
You'll troubleshoot problems, improve system performance and help keep these systems secure from cyber threats.
The role combines technology, engineering and problem-solving, and is becoming increasingly important as the water industry uses more automation and digital technology.
DAY TO DAY WORK
- Monitoring SCADA systems that collect information from water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Helping operators monitor and control pumps, valves, tanks and treatment processes.
- Troubleshooting problems with control systems, networks and equipment.
- Configuring screens, alarms and dashboards so operators can easily understand what is happening.
- Connecting sensors and equipment to monitoring and control systems.
- Testing and commissioning new SCADA systems and technology.
- Maintaining and upgrading existing systems as technology changes.
- Working with cybersecurity teams to protect critical water infrastructure.
- Analysing system data to identify faults or improve performance.
- Working with engineers, electricians, operators and IT professionals to solve technical problems.

Qualifications for this role
The following qualifications are required for this role:
- A Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Electrotechnology, Instrumentation and Control, or Industrial Automation and Control
or - Bachelor of Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation.
