The Department of Environment Parks and Water Security’s Water Resource Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992 (the Act) which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection and management of the Territory’s water resource. Operating within the Division, the Water Monitoring Branch ensures water-monitoring programs deliver water allocation planning, flood and contract monitoring outcomes to the highest standard.

As Operations Manager, you provide leadership to the Water Monitoring team in the collection, processing, management and dissemination of water monitoring data and information products for the sustainable management and conservation of the Territory’s water resources.

As a senior leader, you support the Branch Manager to develop, schedule and allocate work programs and project plans to surface and ground watering monitoring teams, and instrumentation officers. Your key duties include assessing technology, instrumentation and work process to improve operational efficiency of water-data information systems. You will also undertake regular audits to ensure instrumentation repairs/upgrades and field/office activities comply with industry standards.

Your extensive knowledge and experience of hydrography, operating data monitoring networks and record of accomplishment in leading, developing and mentoring teams will ensure your success, as will your sound knowledge of water legislation, water licensing and regulation on water monitoring networks. The ability to prepare accurate documentation, memorandums, project plans, and business cases along with the ability to interpret technical date is essential.

Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or diploma Water Industry Operations and the ability to obtain Coxswains qualifications is desirable.
