About the role:
As the Senior Infrastructure Approvals Advisor, you will be a key team SME in the provision of complex development approvals, environmental approvals , Native Title / Cultural Heritage, land acquisition, and licencing advice to enable the delivery of Unitywater capital works program and strategic ambition. You will be responsible for leading, identifying and resolving third-party approvals to enable capital works expenditure programs to be developed and delivered. You will also contribute to system and process development to ensure early identification and management of approvals risk. Additional key functions will include but not be limited to:
- Be a key advisory and work with internal and external stakeholders to inform infrastructure approval pathways and environmental planning considerations, decisions, and outcomes to deliver the program, and manage approvals risk to project delivery.
- Be responsible for complex projects within the capital works program and work closely with the IDT (Integrated Delivery Team) leads and Build Better Together partners.
- Represent Unitywater as required in meetings with external agencies (eg: Local Councils, Department of Environment and Science, Department of Main Roads, Energex, Queensland Water Directorate) in relation to approvals for projects and changes to legislation and regulations.
- Work with the Approvals and Regulatory Manager in the coordination of the compliance and potential renegotiation of operating licenses to deliver the Treatment Services Roadmap and facilitate regional growth projections.
About you:
To contribute to Unitywater’s values of Reliability, Safety, Honesty & Integrity, Efficiency, One Team, Innovation, you will demonstrate the following skills and qualities for the role:
- Significant experience in statutory approvals including preparation and delivery of complex development applications, applications for environmental approvals, and negotiations with government agencies.
- Experience in providing advice on environmental and planning approvals and land acquisition requirements for linear infrastructure and/or major processing sites.
- High level interpersonal skills, with a proven ability in consultancy and negotiation with government regulators, and a strong focus on quality customer service.
- Experience to the Native Title Act and cultural heritage procedures, as well as experience in developing and maintaining approvals programs for capital works with complex engineering and approvals requirements would be advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Environmental Science / Management, Law, or Town Planning.
