The Adelaide Production and Treatment Alliance is a partnership with SA Water and is responsible for operating and maintaining five water treatment plans and five wastewater treatment plants that deliver services to the Adelaide Metropolitan regions.

Working in partnership with SA Water as one brand and one team, the Adelaide Production & Treatment Alliance (P&T Alliance) will enable a safe and engaged workforce to meet SA Water’s customer service targets and regulated responsibilities at the lowest sustainable cost for Adelaide customers. With improved integration and collaboration, the P&T Alliance team combines expertise from SUEZ and SA Water under a shared responsibility structure to ensure delivery of trusted water services our community needs now and into the future. 


Our Opportunity

The Glenelg Wastewater Plant Supervisor assists the Wastewater & Reuse Treatment Manager South to ensure the satisfactory operation of the treatment plants. Also ensuring operations are safe, compliant, and environmentally sound. The role oversees the condition of the plant and the day-to-day plant operations.

Your primary duties will include:

  • In collaboration with the Wastewater and Reuse Treatment Manager and HR, you will be responsible for recruiting, supervising, and motivating the operational team.
  • Ensure resources and skills are available and consistent with the level of services required by the Alliance and SA Water.
  • Develop and maintain on-call rosters for the plant.
  • Maintain the team’s performance by facilitating both formal and informal performance management processes.
  • Maintain safety systems on site including control of work on the site through the work permit system.
  • Operate and maintain the Plants within the requirements of the Alliance.
  • Ensure that targets are achieved on wastewater treatment and reuse, to enable optimal operational performance and efficiency.
  • Hold and chair regular toolbox meetings to inform and direct the operations team of daily and weekly activities. Update operations team on plant set-up and modifications etc... 
  • Work closely with the Wastewater & Reuse Plant Manager and/or Wastewater Engineer whenever necessary, especially when there is a need for significant process or plant parameter modifications.
  • Supervise the plant team on a regular basis to ensure they perform their duties in accordance with operational, quality and safety procedures.
  • Develop and continually improve operational practices and procedures. 
  • Review plant analytical data daily and discuss results with the operation and technical team, especially when process parameters may need to be changed.
  • Operate the assets in accordance with the Alliance requirements and identify the need for capital expenditure. 
  • Provide an interface with Capital Works that are ongoing on the site. Meeting with Contractors to review scope, provide input into design and hazard analysis. Through to construction, installation and commissioning works reviewing job safety analyses, work method statements and providing safe access to the plant. 
  • Effectively manage power and chemical usage on site. 
  • Provide technical and operational support to the Alliance R&D Group.
  • Ensure financial compliance, review the plants’ budget, and support in the ongoing financial forecasts.
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

What you can bring to the team?

Essential Requirements:

  • 5 + years’ proven leadership experience in an industrial operations environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal.
  • Adaptable with the ability to showcase high EQ skills.
  • Ability to provide a 2nd level on call function.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good understanding of the wastewater and reuse treatment process.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Have the experience or a keen interest in:

  • Trade skills in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • Cert III in Water Operations.
