WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a smart, capable and enthusiastic team member with expertise that can be applied in recycled water, waste management and irrigated agriculture. 

Ideally, we are seeking a person who has a minimum of 5 years professional experience and knowledge in the following technical areas:

  • Resource recovery - particularly recycled water and biosolids
  • Irrigated agriculture
  • Soil testing and analysis
  • Groundwater management 

The successful candidate will have a good professional network, or the capacity to develop one. Communication skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work within a team and independently, are critical to success in the role.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

You will work in teams with other RMCG consultants on projects involving the sustainable use of recycled water and organic wastes (e.g. biosolids). You will help to ensure our clients are meeting their environmental compliance requirements and maximising the benefits that can be achieved from these resources. 

Examples of recent relevant work by RMCG include: the preparation of Health and Environment Management Plans (HEMPs) and User Site Management Plans (USMPs) for recycled water and biosolids users; water balance modelling for recycled water systems; soil and groundwater monitoring and compliance reporting; recycled water and biosolids management strategic planning; development of Risk Management and Monitoring Programs (RMMP) for wastewater treatment; review and development of regulatory management guidance documents.

You will work with government agencies, water authorities, private industry, community groups, regulators and farmers to:

  • Collect, synthesise and analyse a range of data, particularly field data (soil test results, groundwater monitoring data, irrigation and crop yield data)
  • Analyse options and undertake concept design to ensure sustainable and practical approaches to the management of water, wastes and other natural resources.
  • Assess environmental risk and appropriate management and monitoring responses 
  • Develop and review environmental monitoring and sampling programs
  • Support our clients to meet regulatory requirements 
  • Prepare clear and succinct plans, strategies and reports.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

We are seeking a candidate with at least 5 years of professional experience who can demonstrate:

  • Strong technical knowledge relevant to recycled water, irrigation, soils, groundwater, water balance modelling and/or
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate findings, insights and recommendations 
  • Skills and experience in building effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and other project stakeholders (including farmers)
  • Ability to manage projects and identify and develop business opportunities

Previous experience in consulting would be considered favourably.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A degree in agricultural science, environmental science, engineering or a related discipline.

SALARY 

The remuneration package for the position will be negotiated with the preferred applicant and dependent on technical knowledge and experience, however, is expected to be in the range of $100,000 – $130,000 (FTE excluding superannuation).
