The opportunity
We have this great operational role now available! We are seeking a Water Network Senior Operator where you will monitor, operate, and coordinate the maintenance for our drinking and untreated water network assets. This a hands-on role which involves a mixture of field and office-based work and will expose you to our various network assets - from pump stations and water tanks to our scenic dams. Day-to-day you will monitor the performance of water network assets, troubleshoot and coordinate the response to complex operational issues, identify and lead the implementation of projects to improve operational practices.

Responsibilities
- Complete weekly asset maintenance runs including calibration of equipment, visual inspections, chemical deliveries, dam safety visual inspection, housekeeping, and capture of data at water network operations sites.
- Identify, troubleshoot and coordinate resolutions to faults and trends in operational performance.
- Investigate and rectify water quality issues in the network.
- Develop clear and concise plans for asset outages of critical assets and work with stakeholders to implement the plans.
- Provide technical advice to the business
- Lead the delivery of assigned improvement initiatives and key operational processes.
Skills & Experience
- Good understanding of water quality and hydraulic operational principles and risks within water distribution systems.
- Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water distribution assets, in particular pumps, water quality monitoring instrumentation and appurtenances (hydrants, valves).
- Experience with operational software systems such as GIS, SCADA and works/asset management systems will be highly regarded.
- Experience within a technical or vocational field would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements, coupled with effective collaboration and communication.
- Water Operations Certificate III (desirable) or relevant engineering degree would be highly regarded.
- Current valid Victorian Drivers Licence – this role comes with a tool of trade to get out and about at our operational sites.
