We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Security and Emergency Management Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting our organisation!


About the role

The Security & Emergency Management Officer plays a vital role in supporting North East Water to respond effectively, efficiently and appropriately to emergency and security events.

In this role you will facilitate business engagement with security and emergency management practices through training, education and consultation with stakeholders and government agencies. 

This role is a full-time ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating maintenance and testing of security systems.
  • Monitoring and analysing site security alarm notifications and incidents.
  • Issuing and ensuring access to all staff and contractors.
  • Providing support, training and development for staff in security and emergency management principles and procedures.
  • Supporting and coordinating internal committees and activities including the Emergency Planning Committee and emergency management exercises.
  • Analysing security system performance and supporting identified security infrastructure improvements.
  • Maintaining preparedness resources and supporting prompt activation of our Crisis & Incident Management System (CIMS).
  • Promoting engagement with the Security and Emergency Management Frameworks through development of systems, policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with the development of business continuity objectives and plans.
  • Providing advice and support to the Incident Management and Crisis Management Teams (IMT/CMT) to deliver incident and crisis management objectives.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of emergency management and working with emergency response and support agencies.
  2. Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, and email applications.
  3. Experience in or the ability to coordinate physical security projects and monitor and maintain system performance (desirable).
  4. Experience in project management, emergency management or security planning, training, and exercising (desirable).
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing, enhancing and maintaining emergency management 
  6. Formal qualification in business continuity, emergency management, risk management or security (desirable).


Position Information 

  • An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 11.5% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
  • This is a full time, ongoing position.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable. 
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
