Your impact

The Principal Structural Engineer - Dams is responsible for providing and leading consultancy services, engineering services, technical input and direction in dam safety and dam design in the ANZ region, particularly supporting our dams engineering frameworks. 

The role will work alongside design managers and multi-disciplinary teams, providing project delivery, design management and technical leadership. #JacobsWaterANZ

The role will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, engineering and design technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects. 

The role will support the management of the team, in terms of team development and growth, building design capability and growing the portfolio. 

Key to this role will be the leadership and interface with GID delivery centres in order to improve delivery capability to meet targets. 

The role will be responsible for: 

• The design and delivery of medium to large scale projects in the dams sector including dam safety reviews and design of dam safety upgrades and new dams. 

• The design of complex reinforced concrete liquid retaining structures and structural design of other related infrastructure 

• Delivering technically excellent structural engineering designs and consultancy services, including directly undertaking work and delegating tasks to appropriate team members 

• Carrying out independent design, reviews and assurance on projects. 

• Assessing and managing structurally related risk in project designs and bids 

• Mentoring and facilitating the technical development of junior to senior level engineers locally and elsewhere in the region. 

• Promoting safety culture within the organisation and with our clients. 

• Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and technical managers. 

Here's what you'll need
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Deliver technically excellent designs and consultancy services. 
  • Drive business development and be responsible for work winning, identify the next opportunities and support the win of opportunities. 
  • Develop and maintain strong key client relationships, act as a trusted advisor to a select group of Jacobs key clients. 
  • Represent the team at key thought leadership events. Collaborate closely with Jacobs client management team to identify emerging opportunities with clients. 
  • Manage projects in both PM and DPE roles delivery on cost, on time, and resulting in client satisfaction. 
  • Provide design management functions on projects. 
  • Maintain compliance with Jacobs QA procedures, including the deliverables review QA process. 
  • Facilitate the technical development of more junior resources to meet market requirements. Engage with high performers in a team environment to facilitate knowledge sharing and coaching. 
  • Promote safety culture within the organisation and with our clients
