We are currently seeking experienced water engineers to
join our Planning and Asset Management Team. These roles will offer an
exciting opportunity to contribute to important water infrastructure projects
in Australia and New Zealand. Both roles will ideally be based in
our Newcastle office, although we are open to considering
Sydney-based candidates.
The roles will focus on delivering dam safety management and
water resources projects, for both major and regional water utilities. There
will also be opportunities to collaborate with the broader dams engineering and
water resources teams, located in offices across Australia and New Zealand.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Delivering a variety of dam safety and water resources
projects, including: dam safety management systems and emergency plans; dam
safety reviews and risk assessments; dambreak and consequence category
assessments; hydrology studies; and water resource planning studies.
- Championing
work sharing across our offices and beyond; ensuring quality and
timeliness of delivery.
- Understanding
and adapting to different client standards and being a role model of
consistent and reliable client service.
- Work
winning initiatives – contributing to proposals / successful work
delivery.
About you
You’ll be seeking fulfilment through autonomy, career
flexibility, knowledge learning and sharing and working for a business that
provides purpose and relevance in what you do. With outstanding communication
skills and the ability to influence and drive successful project outcomes,
you’ll have experience working in a consulting environment, delivering projects
as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-office team.
You will be a technically qualified individual, with a
strong track record in the successful delivery of dam safety and/or water
resources projects, preferably in a consulting environment, as well as being
passionate about developing and motivating and mentoring others to achieve
their potential.
You will pride yourself in being a trusted partner to
our clients and work with them in partnership to develop and improve strategic
dams management and wider water resource management outcomes.
Proficiency in a range of industry-standard hydraulic,
hydrologic, structural, geotechnical, and GIS software will be highly regarded,
particularly related to dam safety analysis, consequence assessment, and
hydrological/water resource modelling.
Other ideal skills and expertise include:
- Relevant
qualifications in civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Significant
experience in bulk water supply infrastructure (including dams, major
pipelines and pumping stations), major stormwater inf
- Experience
in the surveillance of concrete and embankment dams, including engineering
inspections and instrumentation data review.
- Understanding
of risk management and the ability to identify project risks,
design-related risks and major infrastructure risks.
- Experience
managing small to medium engineering design projects.
- Commitment
to working safely and within the company’s HSEQ systems.
- Strong
problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across a
multidisciplinary team.
- Well-developed
written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a broad range of
audiences.
- Willingness
to travel occasionally as required.
Preferred candidates will possess experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Hydrology
/ Hydraulics Modelling: ideally related to water supply dams or
stormwater detention basins, and preferably in a NSW/Australian context.
- Structural
/ Hydraulic Design: ideally related to hydraulic structures such
as concrete dams, dam spillways, detention basins, storm culverts,
etc.
- Dam
Safety / Risk Management: ideally in NSW
