We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our team and support the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel. In this pivotal role, you will provide comprehensive legal advice, ensure corporate compliance, and play an integral part in guiding informed decision-making across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a legal professional looking to contribute to a dynamic business environment while expanding their expertise across corporate, commercial, and compliance functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and execute a wide range of agreements including joint ventures, supply agreements, confidentiality undertakings, and financing documentation related to our water treatment activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver effective contract management and advise staff through the contract lifecycle.
  • Assist to develop contractual legal precedents for use by non legal personnel.
  • Work with developing legal tools, including AI, to assist with streamlining the legal department function including contractual interpretation and precedent development. Experience and a willingness to investigate and implement would be highly regarded.
  • Manage company secretarial and compliance matters both domestically and internationally, including board and shareholder meetings, statutory registers, and company establishment.
  • Oversee intellectual property registrations and maintain company trademarks and patents.
  • Coordinate annual insurance renewals, manage claims, and liaise with brokers on contractual provisions.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel on litigation and specialist matters.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement by improving processes, participating in lessons learned initiatives, and contributing innovative solutions.
  • Foster a strong safety, quality, and compliance culture across the business.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Law and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (admission to practice highly regarded).
  • Proven experience drafting legal documentation and providing legal advice in a professional context.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, corporate compliance, and intellectual property matters.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organisational abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset with a strong commitment to continuous improvement, health, safety, and environmental best practice.

Desirable:

  • Additional commercial or finance qualifications.
  • Experience working within complex, collaborative environments.
