About the role: 
Make a Real Impact with Numbers That Matter – Right Here on the Coast! Part-time 12month fixed term contract
Join Unitywater as a Financial Accountant on a part-time (2 days a week) 12month fixed term contract and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. This part-time opportunity offers the perfect balance, meaningful, high-impact work with the flexibility to support your lifestyle.
You’ll be part of our collaborative Strategic Finance branch, driving the quality and compliance of our financial data while contributing to process improvement and strong governance practices.

What you’ll do
  • Prepare monthly and statutory financial reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and monitor financial performance across key areas.
  • Provide technical accounting advice aligned with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Partner with auditors, finance colleagues and internal stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality outputs.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to streamline and enhance financial processes.
  • Support budget and forecast processes with accurate financial data and insights.

Must haves
  • Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA or CA membership (professional accounting qualification).
  • Demonstrated experience preparing unqualified statutory financial statements for audit, with a solid understanding of Government and financial legislation, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and their application in a commercial business context.
  • Proven understanding of financial stewardship, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial integrity controls, general ledger systems, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across teams to achieve organisational goals.
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP finance systems, with the ability to interrogate data and provide clear financial insights and reports.
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach with a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
Nice to haves
  • Experience using TechnologyOne or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience preparing board-level financial reports and presentations.
  • Exposure to working in regulated environments.
  • Interest in driving process improvement and enhancing financial reporting capability.
