Your Opportunity
We have an opportunity in a newly shaped Integrated Planner role in our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group.
This planning engineer role sits in our Integrated Planning team, who are essential in shaping the vision and objectives of our policies and servicing strategies. The team is responsible for building, adapting, and implementing plans for wastewater catchments, water supply zones, and data systems to define performance targets, establish investment pathways, and develop Strategic Business Cases - all driving an affordable, sustainable, and deliverable portfolio to achieve key objectives.
The Integrated Planner will support solving complex problems that define adaptive investment pathways to inform our multibillion-dollar capital and operating expenditure forecasts for the 5 to 20-year horizon.
The Integrated Planner will contribute to the development and maintenance of multiple adaptive integrated water cycle plans and producing Strategic Business Cases (SBC’s) that define performance trade-offs, 20-year programs of capital, operating and maintenance interventions, and the investment required to deliver upon our service level objectives for our communities.
Our Planning Engineers play a critical role in delivering a multi-billion-dollar capital works program, by contributing to sustainable solutions for Southeast Queensland’s water cycle, while also challenging engineering norms by committing to innovation to transform our water services for our customers.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
Undertake technical assessments to analyse system performance data (flows, pressures, level trends, pump operation), assess network capacity under existing and future demand by undertaking hydraulic analyses and interpreting modelling outputs.
Contribution to option generation for network upgrades or treatment solutions, evaluation of options using multi-criteria assessments and ensuring the quality of planning outputs and solutions achieve service level objectives.
Provide technical expertise to integrated planning teams to solve complex problems and help design adaptive pathways for intervention with a grounding of current and forecast service performance (and risk), climate change adaptation requirements, prioritised development areas and commercial opportunities.
Collaborates with other parts of the business both upstream and downstream of direct planning activities to ensure alignment of planning outcomes with broader enterprise strategic objectives and fit for purpose solutions.
Provision of high quality inputs to business cases, planning reports and investment proposals, ensuring data sources and assumptions are clearly documented.
About You
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about operational excellence, have strong engagement and communication skills, and thrive when working on complex, impactful projects. Ideally, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
Exhibit a project management mindset, with the ability to develop effective relationships with customers through the determination of needs, management of processes and delivery standards, instigation of continuous review and the development of personal competencies.
Bring expertise in some or all of the following areas: network modelling, urban sewerage system planning, drinking water distribution systems planning, water and wastewater treatment processes, drinking water quality.
Experience in strategic planning programs, ensuring they are delivered within budget and on time with a strong focus on safety, environmental and commercial outcomes.
Bachelor of Engineering or specialised working experience.
