·       Work across teams and stakeholders to deliver practical solutions

·       Be part of a flexible, inclusive and supportive team environment

About us:

Unitywater operates in one of Australia’s most exceptional environments in terms of natural beauty, geographical and demographic breadth. We operate on Kabi Kabi, Jinibara and Turrbal Country, proudly providing safe and reliable water to customers in Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast and Noosa. We are a water utility serving one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

We think a pretty good job starts here.

About the role:

Unitywater is looking for two experienced engineers to join our Growth Engineering Team and help shape the future of our water and wastewater systems across the region. We have two opportunities, with each offering a meaningful impact on infrastructure planning and delivery:

·       Senior Infrastructure Planning Engineer

An experienced technical engineer focused on water and sewerage network planning and engineering. You will deliver robust planning assessments, technical analysis, and solution requirements to support capital program development, major projects, and development services. This role works closely with internal teams, Integrated Delivery Teams, and external stakeholders to provide high quality planning outputs, technical advice, contribute to process improvements, and ensure projects meet regulatory and technical standards.

·       Infrastructure Planning Lead - STP

A senior technical leadership role with a strong wastewater treatment plant planning and engineering support during delivery focus, this role leads complex planning and engineering assessments for wastewater treatment plants — including process engineering understanding, capacity planning and optimisation — and provides technical guidance across wastewater treatment plant major infrastructure decisions. The role also leads and mentors a small team of planning engineers while working with Infrastructure Planning networks influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver high quality technical and engineering outcomes.

What You’ll Do (Both Roles)

·       Deliver high-quality planning assessments and technical advice to inform Unitywater’s capital program, development services, infrastructure delivery and strategic planning.

·       Translate high level needs into clear, evidence based technical solution requirements.

·       Prepare planning documentation that meets regulatory expectations

·       Support Sustainable Project Development through needs analysis, options assessment, cost estimation and integration of sustainability and innovation opportunities.

·       Work collaboratively with internal engineering teams, Integrated Delivery Teams and external consultants.

·       Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems and planning approaches.

·       Support major projects and ensure high standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance.

What You’ll Bring:

Senior Infrastructure Planning Engineer:

·       Experience in water industry or utilities sector, with a focus on network planning

·       Strong technical expertise in water and sewerage network infrastructure, including planning, design, and analysis

·       Proven ability to translate high-level needs into practical solution requirements

·       Experience collaborating with internal teams, developers, and consultants to deliver projects

·       Ability to manage multiple planning tasks, stakeholder reviews and project inputs

·       Tertiary qualifications in civil or mechanical engineering

·       RPEQ qualification or be working towards

Infrastructure Planning Lead - STP:

·       Experience in the water industry, with a strong focus on wastewater treatment plant planning and engineering

·       Deep technical expertise in wastewater treatment plant processes, capacity planning, upgrades and optimisation

·       Ability to translate complex technical needs into clear solution requirements and inform strategic investment decisions

·       Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with developers, councils, regulators, and internal teams

·       Proven capability of driving continuous improvement, innovation, and efficiency in planning and project delivery

·       Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills, able to influence technical and non-technical audiences

·       Tertiary qualifications in process or mechanical engineering

·       RPEQ qualification or be working towards
