About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Engineer to join our Innovation & Improvement team, supporting automation and SCADA systems across the SA Water Production & Treatment Alliance.
In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that water and wastewater treatment assets operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, SA Water Capital Delivery, and SA Water SCADA Support teams to deliver, maintain, and continuously improve automation, PLC, communications, and SCADA environments across the network.
You will also contribute to setting high standards for automation practices, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, managing cybersecurity considerations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across critical infrastructure. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and driving innovation in essential public services.
About You
You are an automation or control systems professional with strong PLC and SCADA capability and a genuine interest in improving the performance and reliability of critical infrastructure. You enjoy working collaboratively across operational, maintenance, and engineering teams and are comfortable engaging a broad range of stakeholders to deliver safe and effective outcomes.
You bring a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
You will have experience in modern PLC programming aligned to IEC 61131-3 standards, with exposure to platforms such as RS Logix 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, Schneider Control Expert, Vijeo Designer, or Red Lion. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with a high level of attention to detail and an unrestricted Australian driver’s licence. Experience with SCADA platforms and prior exposure to the water or wastewater industry will be highly regarded.
