AECOM's environmental practice is dedicated to helping industries, clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities while protecting the natural environment. We provide advisory and technical services to ensure compliance, manage impacts, and reduce risks, including obtaining permits and approvals, decommissioning and restoring contaminated sites, and tackling climate change challenges and resilience. We focus on preserving habitats, water quality, stakeholder engagement and cultural resources, promoting a holistic approach to environmental impact management at every project stage.
Our highly regarded Environmental team in Darwin is seeking Professional to Principal Environmental Scientists and Engineers to support a wide range of exciting and meaningful projects across the Defence, government, mining, and energy sectors.
At AECOM’s Darwin office, you’ll gain hands-on experience in:
Environmental impact assessment and approvals
Contaminated land investigations and remediation
Hydrology, hydrogeology, and water quality monitoring
Biodiversity surveys and ecological assessments
Environmental management planning and auditing

What will a day in this role look like:
Conducting fieldwork in diverse and remote environments across the NT and beyond
Supporting or leading the preparation of environmental assessments, management plans, and technical reportsProject management and performance monitoring for environmental projects of all sizes
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, client-focused outcomes
Engaging with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to support project delivery and business development efforts
Contributing to a positive team culture and collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment

What are we looking for from you?
A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, and a valid Australian driver’s licence and Australian Citizenship (due to project requirements requiring defence clearance)
A strong interest or experience in environmental approvals, contaminated land, or ecological fieldwork
Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and get involved across a wide range of projects while contributing to a supportive, team-focused environment
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently when needed
A proactive attitude, curiosity to learn, and a commitment to delivering quality work
Experience managing environmental projects end-to-end, including scope, timelines, budgets and coordination with clients and internal teams (desirable)
