We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to provide leadership and mentoring to a team of Process Controllers and be responsible for all facets of water and wastewater plant operations on your sites.

The role

As a Team Leader you will be responsible for leading a team working at the TRILITY Eastern Irrigation Scheme and supporting the Yarra Park Water Recycling Facility at the MCG. This will involve coaching, mentoring and performance management of your team while striving to deliver on the performance requirements of the contract and the Company’s objectives.

You will participate in the on-call roster where you will ensure that treatment plants and projects perform to and achieve the required quantitative and qualitative standards set out in applicable Project Agreements.  You will have a high sense of ‘ownership’ for the plants you control and will apply yourself to a broad range of tasks as shown below.  Your duties will cover all aspects of plant operations and will extend to process control, laboratory testing and maintenance of process equipment and other assets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operations comply with TRILITY Safety, Quality and Environmental systems and site requirements.

  • Lead, mentor and manage process controllers, including rostering, leave management, performance feedback and policy compliance.

  • Support budgeting and procurement activities in collaboration with the Operations Manager.

  • Assist with commissioning, testing and verification of new plants and equipment.

  • Manage plant operations, process control and maintenance (planned and reactive), including mechanical, electrical and instrumentation activities.

  • Monitor plant performance, water quality and telemetry systems, taking corrective action as required, including out-of-hours response.

  • Liaise with clients regarding demand changes, water quality and plant status.

  • Maintain accurate operational, maintenance and water quality records and prepare monthly performance reports.

  • Deliver project management activities including contractor supervision, procurement, risk assessments, commissioning and progress reporting.

What we are looking for

  • Technical, trade, or engineering skills and qualifications with hands-on experience in water, wastewater, or similar industries.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and initiative, with a willingness to learn and adapt

  • Comfortable using computers and software for remote plant operation

  • A valid Australian driver’s licence and ability to work on-call when rostered

  • A team player with good communication skills and a commitment to safety and quality

Demonstrable leadership experience is preferred —if you have the technical skills and the drive to step up, we’d love to hear from you.
