SUEZ is a partnership with SA Water delivering together in the Production and Treatment (P&T) Alliance trusted water services for a sustainable and healthy South Australia.  Responsible for operating and maintaining five water treatment plants, five wastewater treatment plants, tanks, pump stations and control installations in Metropolitan Adelaide, the P&T Alliance encompasses expertise and solutions from SUEZ and SA Water working collaboratively as one team, one brand with shared responsibility for trusted water services that our community needs now and into the future.

Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Wastewater Pump Station Supervisor, the Operator Maintainer is responsible for the efficient and compliant operation of wastewater pump stations and associated facilities across Adelaide. This includes ensuring operations are safe, environmentally sound, and compliant with procedures, while supporting the safety of personnel, subcontractors, and visitors.

This role involves:

  • Operating and monitoring treatment plant processes, pump stations, pipelines, and dosing systems

  • Performing plant isolations, issuing permits, and coordinating contractors for maintenance and repair activities

  • Interrogating SCADA systems, interpreting alarms and trends, and responding to operational faults

  • Undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance, including inspections, fault diagnosis, and repair of plant and equipment

  • Supporting incident response, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Maintaining asset reliability and reducing downtime by responding promptly to issues and implementing long-term solutions

  • Identifying opportunities to improve safety, environmental performance, and cost-efficiency

  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders

What You Can Bring to the Team

Essential requirements:

  • Excellent organisational and decision-making skills

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Sound computer skills, including MS Office Suite

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team

  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence

  • Flexibility to travel to metro sites and participate in a 1st level on-call roster

Highly desirable (but not essential):

  • Certificate II or III in Water Operations

  • Qualifications in a relevant trade or discipline

  • Solid understanding of wastewater operations

  • MR Heavy Vehicle Licence and Truck Mounted Crane/Dogging HR Licence

  • CV Crane Licence (greater than 10m)

  • Confined Space Entry
