Your impact

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Design Manager (Civil) to join our Water Infrastructure team in Melbourne. This is a hands-on design leadership role for an engineer with strong Australian water industry experience who can both deliver technical designs personally and lead multidisciplinary teams across diverse water and wastewater projects.

In this role, you'll deliver civil engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects ranging from treatment plants to pump station upgrades and pipeline systems. You'll manage the technical delivery of projects from concept through detailed design, ensuring interdisciplinary coordination while maintaining schedule, scope, and budget requirements. 

As part of our integrated ANZ Water team, you'll have opportunities to work on diverse projects throughout Australia and New Zealand, collaborating with specialists across the region. You'll work with our portfolio of water utility clients where we hold panel positions, applying your technical expertise to deliver innovative solutions. Beyond technical design, you'll build and nurture client relationships, represent Jacobs at industry events, mentor junior staff and identify new opportunities to expand our services. LI-CK1

Here's what you'll need


  • Extensive experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Australia
  • Civil engineering background with proven ability to personally deliver technical designs
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex water infrastructure projects
  • Deep understanding of Australian water industry standards, codes, and best practices
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance practicalities and their impact on design
  • Excellent client relationship skills and outstanding technical communication abilities
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle from concept through detailed design
  • Demonstrated expertise with various water assets including treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipeline systems
