Interested in playing a key role that keeps Cairns flowing? We’re looking for Labourers to join our team who are ready to put their labouring skills to work!
What You’ll Do:
You’ll be on the front line of delivering safe, reliable water to our community. Working outdoors as part of a supportive crew, you’ll help maintain, repair and upgrade Council’s water network—everything from mains and property connections to hydrants and valves.
No two days are the same! You’ll assist with construction projects, respond to reactive maintenance, operate vehicles and equipment, and support trade staff to keep essential services running smoothly. You’ll also take part in after-hours callouts, ongoing training, and safety-focused work practices.
This role suits someone who enjoys physical work, teamwork, and seeing the real-world impact of what they do—every single day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Secondary education to Year 10.
- A current MR class drivers’ licence.
- Construction white card.
- Working in Proximity to Traffic (WPT) – Awareness Part 1 & 2.
- Physical wellbeing to receive training and accreditation for entry into confined spaces.
- Experience in water systems maintenance and construction works.
- Ability to work effectively and adapt to different team environments.
- Good written and communication skills, understanding of basic mathematics, and basic computer skills.
