What You’ll Do:
As Process & Treatment Coordinator, you’ll be the driving force behind best practice initiatives, innovative solutions, and process optimisation that ensure our water and wastewater services meet the highest regulatory, environmental, and community standards. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and strategic influence, giving you the opportunity to shape sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective water services that make a real difference to the region.
You’ll manage a team of technical and operational specialists across Cairns’ key treatment assets, including Copperlode Dam, Crystal Cascades and Behana water intakes, and major trunk mains/reservoirs.
What We’re Looking For:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science with experience working in the Water and Wastewater Industry.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland Certificate (RPEQ) (or ability to obtain).
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence to attend multiple sites across Council’s treatment assets.
- In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk, environmental, and emergency management systems.
- Experience in process optimisation and biological nutrient removal wastewater treatment systems.
- Proven project management skills and experience in leading high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, communication and technical report writing skills.
