About the role

We are seeking to appoint 2 x Commissioning Engineers to join us on a critical infrastructure project on an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract. You will lead a small team of trades people for the transition of a Major water treatment facility from construction to full operation. You will report to the Commissioning Manager and be responsible for technical testing, process optimization, and ensuring that systems—including Services, Screening, chemical dosing, Sludge Ballasted Clarifiers and SCADA—meet strict design and safety specifications.

This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring teamwork and expert problem-solving to ensure reliable water quality for a municipal client.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commissioning Planning: Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, test procedures, and schedules for plant systems (e.g., Screens, Pumps, Chemical dosing Clarifiers, Centrifuges / Dewatering Equipment).
  • System Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct functional performance tests (FAT/SAT), troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, and optimize the equipment & process.
  • Quality & Compliance: Verify that installations align with P&IDs and design documents; ensure all activities meet environmental and regulatory standards.
  • SCADA & Automation Integration: Collaborate with automation teams to test and refine SCADA/PLC control logic and instrumentation.
  • Conduct plant operation during test periods
  • Handover & Training: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive handover packages, including O&M manuals and performance reports; train client personnel on plant operations.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforce strict health and safety protocols on-site, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Permit to Work systems.

About you

We’re seeking experienced commissioning professionals with a background in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering—though strong trade-qualified candidates are also encouraged to apply. You have ideally have 5-10 years’ experience in Commissioning with a proven track record in commissioning large-scale water treatment facilities. Ideal candidates will have hands-on expertise in the start‑up of complex infrastructure such as screening systems, pump stations and sludge dewatering processes, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under pressure during critical start‑up phases. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients. This is an on‑site, full‑time position, with the potential for shift and weekend work to support commissioning timelines.

The position will commence on an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract
