We’re looking for a driven and capable Major Works Coordinator – Water to lead the delivery of our major capital works program and shape the future of water services across our region.
The role
Reporting to the Manager Water Project Delivery, you’ll lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering large-scale water and sewer capital projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
This is more than project management. It’s strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, contract oversight, and driving continuous improvement, all while ensuring our infrastructure is constructible, sustainable, and future-ready.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and developing a team of project professionals (5
direct reports)
- Managing a portfolio of major water and sewer capital works
projects
- Overseeing design, procurement, contract and construction
phases
- Acting as Contract Superintendent’s Representative where
required
- Ensuring compliance with legislative and engineering
standards
- Collaborating with planning, assets and operations teams
- Managing budgets, funding requirements and performance
reporting
- Driving innovation, process improvement and safe work
practices
What you'll bring
You’re a qualified engineer (or bring significant equivalent experience) with a strong track record delivering complex water and sewer infrastructure projects. You’ve successfully managed large capital works programs, including overseeing design and construction contracts, and you understand the legislative and engineering standards that guide the industry.
Most importantly, you’re a capable leader who can inspire and develop a team, influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive projects through to successful completion.
Salary: Commencing salary to be negotiated with successful candidate based on skills and experience within salary system range circa $119,620 - $143,500 p.a. plus superannuation.
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
A civil liability allowance of 3.5% applies to this position.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time (35 hrs per week)
