ABOUT US:

Water Source Australia is a dynamic startup based in South Melbourne, dedicated to developing innovative water treatment solutions to solve the global drinking water crisis. Our team of experts is on the brink of bringing our first product to market, combining cutting-edge technology with a focus on efficiency and reliability. We collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards and address the critical needs of today and tomorrow. Our commitment to excellence drives us to continuously innovate and refine our approaches.

We have developed the Brolga, a smart multi-barrier micro water treatment plant designed to produce safe, potable water from a wide range of non-potable sources. Capable of delivering up to 30,000 litres of treated water per day (average), the Brolga is ideally suited for supplying drinking water to small communities, remote facilities, and disaggregated or decentralised applications where conventional infrastructure is unavailable, unreliable, or economically unviable.

At the heart of the Brolga is an intelligent control system known as ELEIoT, which enables the unit to operate autonomously. The Brolga’s primary purpose is to eliminate pathogen contamination in source water, ensuring the consistent delivery of clean, safe water. Its proprietary operating logic, hosted on the integrated ELEIoT infrastructure, continuously monitors performance, anticipates in-field issues, and automatically resolves them without requiring human intervention.

Water Source Australia is proudly a part of the Adidem Group, who's business philosophy is focused on balancing three circles of responsibility: economic success, stakeholder fulfilment and positive social and environmental change.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a self-driven, technically proficient and experienced Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to join our dynamic team on a 12-month contract. Subject to business needs and the skills and performance of the successful candidate, there may be the opportunity for the contract to be converted into a permanent employment opportunity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical design specifications and descriptions, alongside the overarching V&V strategy, to develop and execute actionable testing plans and protocols.

This position requires a professional who is capable of high-level technical analysis and hands-on physical execution. You will ensure our products meet all requirements through a risk-based testing approach, supporting the product from the workshop to field trials and on-site servicing. Experience in highly regulated industries, knowledge of cloud computing, edge PCs, and PLCs is advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Review and interpret design output documentation, including mechanical and electrical drawings and software logic, to develop a thorough understanding of product specifications and potential failure modes.

·       Develop and execute verification and validation plans and protocols aligned with the V&V strategy, based on product requirements, design outputs, risk assessments and intended use cases.

·       Deliver formal and rigorous test reports detailing clear requirements traceability between design requirements, test cases, test results and non-conformances.

·       Lead technical investigations into product, subsystem and component failures, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.

·       Provide regular, customer-focused performance updates on field trial units to key stakeholders, translating complex field data, including Operational Intelligence and Business Intelligence metrics, into clear and accessible formats tailored to the audience.

·       Manage the practical deployment of units during field trials, including physical troubleshooting, routine on-site support and preventative maintenance, to ensure operational reliability.

·       Work closely with the engineering team to support the preparation of formal engineering and quality documentation, including risk assessments, technical reports, procedures and other controlled documents required for product development.

·       Support the development of user documentation, including manuals, service procedures and how-to guides.

·       Travel as required to manage unit installations, conduct performance monitoring and carry out essential on-site maintenance.

·        Interpret and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience in verification, validation, testing, commissioning or systems integration, preferably within a regulated or quality-managed industry such as water, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive or industrial automation.

·       Demonstrated experience integrating, verifying and validating complex, multi-disciplinary systems.

·       Understanding of risk-based testing methodologies.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Automation or a related discipline.

·       Demonstrated hands-on skills across industrial equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.

·        Experience with structured root cause analysis and corrective action processes.

·       Strong capability in interpreting technical documentation across mechanical, electrical and software domains.

·        Proficiency in interpreting and applying industry standards and regulations.

·       Experience working within a Quality Management System and producing controlled technical documentation, including requirement traceability.

·        Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver outcomes with limited supervision.

·                 ·        Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive rapport with customers and                   external stakeholders.

·                 ·        Must have an Australian driver’s license

 DESIRABLE

·         Experience with PLCs, industrial control systems and instrumentation.

·         Experience with cloud-connected or edge-based systems.

·         Familiarity with Python, C++ or similar languages.

·         Experience with test data analysis, logging systems and technical reporting tools.

·         Experience supporting field trials, commissioning or service activities for deployed equipment.
