Joining SUEZ means being part of a purpose-driven organisation committed to innovation, collaboration, and long-term impact.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer – Water & Wastewater to provide specialist technical leadership across a portfolio of wastewater treatment plants in Victoria. This role is central to improving operational performance across existing O&M contracts, with a strong focus on process optimisation, troubleshooting, and client engagement.
You will work closely with site operations teams, clients, and internal engineering and commercial stakeholders to diagnose process issues, improve plant stability, and deliver measurable improvements in compliance, efficiency, and lifecycle cost.
This is a hands-on, operationally embedded role requiring regular site travel across Victoria. You will play a key role in supporting brownfield assets, stabilisation and optimisation activities, and providing technical input into O&M solutions and future tenders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide process engineering support across water and wastewater O&M and design projects.
Lead troubleshooting, optimisation and performance improvement of operating treatment plants.
Develop key engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic profiles and mass balances.
Deliver process calculations, modelling and technical specifications to support design and optimisation outcomes.
Lead and participate in HAZOP, Safety in Design, value engineering and risk workshops.
Work closely with O&M teams to ensure practical, implementable solutions and operational readiness (SOPs/O&M manuals).
Act as technical interface with clients and stakeholders across project and operational environments.
Mentor junior engineers and support capability development within the team.
About You
You are an experienced wastewater process engineer who thrives in operational environments and enjoys solving complex treatment challenges. You are confident working with data, interpreting plant performance, and turning technical insights into practical improvements that operators can implement.
You are also comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders, translating technical detail into clear, actionable recommendations.
You bring a strong balance of hands-on plant experience, process optimisation capability, and commercial awareness of O&M drivers such as energy, chemicals, staffing, and lifecycle cost.
Essential
Degree in Chemical/Process/Environmental Engineering.
5–10 years’ wastewater or water treatment experience.
Strong knowledge of biological treatment, nutrients and sludge processes
Experience in troubleshooting and process optimisation in live plants.
Exposure to O&M environments and operational constraints.
Strong report writing and stakeholder communication skills.
Ability to interpret plant performance data.
Willingness to travel (local and domestic).
Why Join SUEZ
At SUEZ, you will play a key role in improving the performance and sustainability of critical water and wastewater infrastructure across Victoria. This role offers the opportunity to work directly on live operational assets, influence real-world outcomes, and contribute to both day-to-day optimisation and long-term O&M strategy development.
You will join a technically strong, collaborative environment where engineering expertise directly drives environmental and operational outcomes. The role also provides exposure to a wide range of treatment assets, clients, and technical challenges across the region.
