About the role
The role of Section Manager Systems Operations plays a pivotal role in managing transformation projects, providing ongoing service support, and ensuring the application of technical expertise across Council's Water and Sewer infrastructure. In this role, you will be tasked with leading a team of professionals focused on identifying and managing challenges across the directorate while developing and implementing effective solutions.
This role requires a proactive approach to leadership, with a strong emphasis on customer service and collaboration across various teams and the community. As Section Manager, you will be instrumental in transitioning to a preventative maintenance model, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and optimising service delivery.
The role, at times, operates within a highly dynamic and reactive service delivery environment, requiring timely and effective response to unplanned operational events, emergency incidents, and extreme weather conditions to ensure continuity of essential water and sewer services and value for the community.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a degree qualification in Engineering or other relevant field, combined with ongoing professional development
- a current Class C Drivers Licence
- previous experience in a similar role working in a large organisation and/or operation of a water utility network or similar complex operational infrastructure
- demonstrated experience in managing complex assets and the use of asset management systems to drive improved asset performance, resource efficiencies and customer outcomes
- proven success as a leader with the ability to grow and develop teams focused on customer outcomes, legislative compliance and safety
- extensive experience in problem identification and rectification of Water and Sewer assets
- extensive experience in the supervision and management of a diverse team engaged in Water and Sewer operations.

Other important information
- The salary range for this position ranges from $179k per year inclusive of 12% superannuation, plus 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance for eligible candidates in accordance with the Local Government State Award.
- We have a permanent full-time role available
- This role will be able to access a 19-day month
- We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role
- This role is located at the Nexus Business Hub, North Wyong.
A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $207.31 per week is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
