ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Electrical / Instrumentation Technician (Water Treatment) to join our WA operations team. This is a
hands-on, field-based role working across multiple customer sites to support
the performance and reliability of critical water treatment systems.
This role offers strong exposure to complex systems, customer engagement,
and operational improvement, making it an excellent steppingstone for future
career growth.
LOCATION
Almar Water Solutions Australia, Perth, however, you may be
required to work at other locations dictated by operational or business needs.
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER
Your functional
and operational reporting line will be to the Regional Leader.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Electrical / Instrumentation Technician is responsible for
supporting AWSA water and wastewater treatment systems through electrical,
instrumentation, automation, and process support across mining, industrial
& commercial sites.
Day-to-day responsibilities include preventative maintenance,
fault finding, repair and replacement of AWSA equipment including PLC systems,
control panels, VSDs, motors, pumps, analysers, dosing systems, and associated
instrumentation. This includes 4–20mA instrumentation verification,
calibration, replacement of field devices and analysers, functional testing of
control systems, and support of automation and electrical upgrades.
The role contributes to installations, commissioning, breakdown
response, shutdown support, routine servicing, and project works across
customer sites, with structured on-the-job training provided in water treatment
processes, systems, and compliance.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring and assessing
plant operational parameters, maintaining chemical inventories, ordering
chemicals and reagents, preparing and submitting service reports/logs,
assisting with quick quotations, and providing first-level operational
technical support and feedback to customers and their operational teams.
The Electrical / Instrumentation Technician plays an integral
role within the water business and supports delivery of contractual obligations
and customer expectations across a range of industrial and municipal water
treatment systems.
This role would suit a recently
qualified electrician or instrumentation technician looking to develop process
knowledge and technical capability within the water treatment industry.
Instrumentation experience is desirable, however willingness to learn and
develop within industrial process systems
is equally important.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical & Instrumentation
·
Perform
electrical installation, maintenance, and fault‑finding on water treatment
systems and associated equipment
·
Install,
calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation including flow, pressure, level,
and analytical instruments
·
Assist
with control systems, PLC panels, and electrical control wiring (training
provided as required)
·
Support
commissioning and decommissioning of equipment and systems
Service & Project Support
·
Work
in accordance with WHS legislation, site safety plans, and company procedures
·
Complete
risk assessments, SWMS, and permits as required
·
Maintain
accurate service records, job reports, and documentation
·
Ensure
compliance with electrical standards and customer site requirements
Learning & Development
·
Actively
participate in training related to water treatment processes and systems
·
Build
understanding of chemical dosing, treatment processes, and system performance
·
Work
under supervision while developing competence and confidence in the role
Emergency Response & On-Call Duties
·
Participate
in on-call roster for emergency and after-hours operational tasks
·
Be
available for reactive maintenance and urgent service continuity needs
Operational Efficiency & Improvement
·
Operate
plant and infrastructure in line with contractual obligations
· Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
·
Electrical Trade Qualification (A‑Grade Electrician) or
Instrumentation Trade qualification
·
Current
Australian Electrical License (where applicable)
·
Construction
White Card
·
Current
driver’s license
·
Strong
commitment to safety and quality
Desirable:
·
Electrical
contractors license or willingness to obtain
·
2
years post‑trade experience
·
Exposure
to industrial, utilities, or water/wastewater environments
·
Installation,
verification, fault finding knowledge or experience with the following
equipment
·
PLCs
/ control panels
·
4–20mA
instrumentation
·
Pumps,
motors & analysers
·
12,24v
ac/dc valve, solenoid understanding experience
·
Instrumentation
qualification or willingness to obtain
·
Ability
to read and interpret P&IDs and PFDs
·
Familiarity
with interpreting control philosophy documents to understand process and plant
operation
·
Basic
understanding of instrumentation and control systems
·
Experience
with fault‑finding in industrial electrical systems
·
Willingness
to travel to customer sites as required
