About the Role
As a Water Networks Efficiency Expert, you will serve as a trusted advisor to water utility clients, helping them improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of their water and wastewater networks.
This role combines strategic advisory work with practical operational expertise. You will partner directly with utility clients to identify operational challenges, develop optimisation strategies, and implement solutions across areas such as Non-Revenue Water (NRW), leak management, network performance, inflow and infiltration, water quality, metering performance, and operational efficiency.
Working within SUEZ Advisory, you will leverage global expertise, digital tools, and operational best practice to deliver tangible improvements for clients while supporting business growth and strategic pursuits across Australia and New Zealand.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects ranging from master planning and feasibility studies through to operational optimisation, asset performance improvement, and technical advisory engagements.
About You
You are an experienced water industry professional with a strong understanding of water or wastewater network operations and a passion for helping utilities improve performance.
You enjoy solving complex operational challenges, engaging with stakeholders, and translating technical insights into practical business outcomes. You are comfortable working directly with clients, facilitating workshops, and providing expert guidance on strategic and operational initiatives.
Whether your background comes from a water utility, consultancy, contractor, or specialist technical services environment, you bring a combination of technical credibility, commercial awareness, and relationship-building capability.
What You’ll Bring
Degree qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline
Experience in water or wastewater network operations, optimisation, asset management, or consulting environments
Strong expertise in one or more of the following:
o Non-Revenue Water (NRW) management
o Leak detection and water loss reduction
o Network condition assessment and optimisation
o Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) management
o Water quality improvement
o Metering performance and smart metering programs
Understanding of Australian water utility operations, regulatory frameworks, and environmental compliance requirements
Experience delivering technical investigations, feasibility studies, master planning, or operational improvement initiatives
Strong stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and client relationship management skills
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports, business cases, and client presentations
Experience working with public utilities, EPC contractors, or consulting organisations (highly regarded)
Leadership qualifications, Engineers Australia membership, CPEng status, or experience with digital water solutions will be highly regarded
Ability to travel domestically and work across multiple client sites as required.
Desirable: Engineers Australia membership and experience with automation or process control systems
