Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer who has worked within utilities / infrastructure focussed on technical standards and design support?  This is your chance to make a real difference to your community!

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical standards and design expertise, across all phases of capital projects.

  • Contribute to the identification, creation and active management improvement of technical specifications, standards and guidelines related to Electrical engineering. 
  • Support senior engineering staff to provide technical and risk management advice for Electrical engineering. 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate technical management systems.
  • Drive innovation, particularly in digital and sustainable infrastructure approaches, where appropriate and consistent with Sydney Water’s corporate strategy. 
  • Support other engineers to achieve goals by providing guidance and quality assurance and monitoring workflow.
  • Provide input to prioritisation of activities for the standards engineering team, and towards daily task allocation
  • Contribute and support our engineering standards development, management and continuous improvement to enable effective implementation across the organisation.

About you:

We are looking for a candidate with a Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification.  In addition:

  • At least 8 years of professional experience performing concept or detailed design, installation or commissioning of multidisciplinary engineering, infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in developing and managing technical specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in design, installation or commissioning of power distribution systems
  • Ability to think critically, apply a commercial and customer mindset and creatively problem solve aligning with corporate and regulatory frameworks and objectives 
  • Ability to build trust, strategically influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Ability to manage contracts and audit work 
  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate, and work under pressure – to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
