for a dynamic Coordinator Treatment Operations to join our team and help keep the Whitsunday Region flowing smoothly!

In this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for our Water and Wastewater treatment plants, ensuring that we deliver safe, clean drinking water and manage wastewater like a pro. If you love problem-solving, teamwork,and making a difference in your community, this is the job for you!

The Role

Reporting to the Manager Treatment Operations, this position is responsible for coordinating the operations of  Council's  southern-based  water  and  wastewater  treatment  facilities  and  leading  a  team  committed  to delivering essential services across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the safe and efficient operation of water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Leading, mentoring and supporting operational staff, including the Team Leader Treatment.
  • Monitoring treatment processes, water quality and effluent performance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating preventative, reactive and general maintenance activities across treatment assets.
  • Managing contractors, suppliers and service providers to support operational reliability.
  • Utilising systems such as SCADA to investigate and resolve operational issues.
  • Preparing operational reports, maintaining rosters and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responding to after-hours emergencies and supporting treatment operations across the region when required.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Proven ability to coordinate maintenance activities, contractors and operational resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality services to the community.

Essential

  • C Class Manual Driver Licence.
  • Construction White Card.
  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Water and/or Wastewater), or the ability to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights competency, or the ability to obtain
