Provide strategic leadership of the water assessment modelling activities associated with the Water Resources Division. 

The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Water Resources Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992 (the Act) which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection and management of the Territory’s water resource. We are a motivated, experienced and diverse team of water scientists, planners, technicians, regulators and policy makers who inform the sustainable management of the Territory’s water.

As the Manager Water Resources Modelling, your primary objective will be to provide leadership to the Water Resources Divisions’ modelling activities, with particular emphasis on the provision of modelling data and information, to support assessment activities in the Division.

Your core responsibilities include managing the department’s Water Modelling Unit and provide high level professional support and advice to the assessment, planning, investigation, monitoring and modelling of the Territory’s water resources, and contributing to the scientific underpinnings to water plans, extraction licences and scientific program and projects.

To be successful, you require a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geology, Applied Science, or similar tertiary qualification. Extensive knowledge of, and experience in hydrology, hydrogeology and catchment processes in tropical and arid environments are essential. standards and guidelines for surface water, ground water, and water quality assessment are essential.
