Location: New Plymouth, New Zealand
Imagine helping shape the future of water
services while living in one of New Zealand's most spectacular regions.
With Mount Taranaki on your doorstep,
world-class surf beaches, mountain biking, a vibrant arts scene and an enviable
work-life balance, Taranaki offers an exceptional place to build both your
career and your lifestyle. If you're

eligible candidates.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Three Waters Planning Lead,
you'll help plan the future of New Plymouth's drinking-water infrastructure. This is a strategic planning role where
you'll combine technical expertise with long-term thinking to influence
infrastructure investment and deliver sustainable water supply outcomes.
You’ll work across:
·
strategic planning for water supply sources,
treatment and distribution;
·
growth and capacity planning supported by
network modelling;
·
asset management and long-term investment
planning;
·
business case development;
- project leadership, consultant management and
technical oversight; and
·
stakeholder engagement across the organisation
and wider community.
About You
You're an experienced planning engineer
with a strong understanding of water-supply systems and a passion for solving
complex infrastructure challenges.
You’ll have
a tertiary qualification in civil, environmental or water engineering (or a
related discipline), together with 7+ years' relevant experience in water
infrastructure engineering, including hydraulic modelling (ideally with Infoworks
WS Pro) and design.
A strategic thinker by nature, you look
beyond individual projects to consider the wider network, future growth,
resilience, and community outcomes. You
have a knack for translating technical insights into clear, practical direction.
Strong communication and
relationship-building skills enable you to engage confidently with both
technical and non-technical audiences across the organisation and wider
community.
Why Join Us?
If you're looking to apply your technical
expertise at a strategic level, this is an opportunity to work asset-owner side
and influence the planning and investment decisions that will shape the future
of water services for generations to come. You'll be joining a collaborative,
supportive team where your expertise is respected, your ideas are valued and
your work makes a tangible difference. Combined with flexible working and
ongoing professional development, it's an opportunity to build a rewarding
long-term career in one of New Zealand's most desirable regions.
Across New Zealand, significant investment
and reform are creating exciting opportunities for experienced water
professionals. You'll join New Plymouth District Council's Water Planning team,
playing a key role as water services transition to Wai Hononga Water Services
Ltd.
