This position is responsible for undertaking mechanical fabrication, assembly, installation and maintenance tasks across all Water & Wastewater projects and products, while supporting both workshop and site-based activities.
The role requires a strong focus on quality workmanship, safety, teamwork and effective communication with colleagues, clients and contractors.
Requirements include
• Work enthusiastically in a team environment including supporting all colleagues to achieve manufacturing tasks to the desired quality of work within deadlines.
• Carry out mechanical work as designated to produce quality work within deadlines. This includes PVC pipe fabrication, general steel fabrication, mechanical assembly work and various acceptance testing.
• Provide technical input concerning the design, installation and maintenance with regards to all projects and products.
• Read & follow mechanical drawings to produce the desired project or task outcome.
• Assistance with quality control of products and projects including red pen mark ups for ASCON drawings.
• Preparation and packing of equipment for site specific tasks, including installation, pipe laying, civil assistance/direction, service/maintenance and existing services upgrades.
• Adherence to all company and customers specific Occupational Safety and Health, quality and environmental policies.
• Assist electrical based colleagues where appropriate on project or production tasks both onsite and in house.
• Liaise with clients and contractors on site while maintaining professionalism
• Adhere to road rules and drive responsibly when driving company owned or marked vehicles.
• Turning up fit for work, being well rested and free from drugs and alcohol.
Ideal candidate will have;
• Previous experience in the water industry
• Experience with PVC & HDPE plastic fabrication
• General mechanical/plumbing ability with pride in the workmanship
• Analytical and fault-finding skills
• Ability to read and follow process & instrumentation diagrams and GA drawings
• Flexibility to work within the mechanical or service fields as required by current workload.
• Minor dogging and rigging ability
