About the Role

Step into a key leadership role where you will lead field-based delivery teams and service providers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective regional works programs across Melbourne Water’s operational network.

As Manager Delivery Werribee & WTP, you will be responsible for bringing together people leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement to deliver strong safety, customer, financial and service outcomes. Leading a team of program leads, field crew and external partners, you will oversee the delivery of critical works across areas such as natural resource management, maintenance of civil assets and grass cutting.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is comfortable being close to the work, spending time in the field, building trust with teams and translating broader strategic priorities into practical delivery outcomes. You will play a key role in developing capability, strengthening succession planning, driving cultural and operational improvement, and ensuring teams have the support, clarity, and confidence to deliver.

•          Provide leadership across Melbourne Water teams, contractors, and service providers by embedding a proactive safety culture, managing risk, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring effective emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

•          Lead organisational improvement, cultural change, and operational transformation initiatives to improve service delivery effectiveness, workforce capability and business performance and deliver measurable business improvements.

•          Manage contractor and service provider performance through effective governance, commercial oversight, contract compliance, and collaborative relationship management to achieve agreed service outcomes.

•          Provide technical leadership, advice, and assurance, ensuring compliance with Melbourne Water standards, governance requirements, and risk management frameworks.

•          Manage and participate in incident response, which may include participating in 'out of hours' incident management and rosters.

About you:

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded people leader with strong operational delivery experience, a proactive approach to health and safety, and the ability to lead through complexity, change, and competing priorities.

•          Strong field-based people leadership with experience leading operational, service delivery, maintenance, civil, infrastructure or environmental teams.

•          Proven safety leadership, including a proactive approach to risk management, incident response, injury prevention and building a strong safety culture.

•          Operational delivery experience, with the ability to manage works programs, resources, priorities, performance, productivity, and customer/service outcomes.

•          Experience managing contractors or service providers, including performance, governance and commercial oversight.

•          Experience in natural resource management, civil maintenance, field services, heavy plant, or contractor/service provider management would be highly valued.

•          Business improvement and change leadership experience, with the ability to lift productivity, improve processes and support operational transformation.

•          Strong people management capability, including coaching, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning and building engaged teams.

•          Commercial and financial management skills, including work programs, resources, plant, and equipment to deliver value for money.

•          Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across field crews, internal teams, Traditional Owner groups, community representatives, and service providers.

•          Ability to translate strategy into practical action, helping field-based teams understand priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes.

The home location for this role is Western Treatment Plant with other site visits and travel expected.
